rinse sand?

Hi, can anyone kindly tell me, as i juz bought some 0 grade sand for setting up of my new tank. Must i rinse the sand first b4 i put in the tank or can i juz put it in straight? If i must rinse? Is it better to rinse in saltwater or juz fresh water? Thanks 4 all your help! :D

yes... if possible, use magnet to get rid the metal

yeah.. if possible.. if only few packets then ok. magnet to remove metal stuff.

Or like me, dun even wash the sand.. since its cycling phase, I just dump everything from the bags into the tank. The let the filtering system do its job while cycling.

You will need lots of sponge. Change it every week or 2. Mine is a 4ft, 6 bags sand, sump system. Water should clear in 1-3 weeks.

Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth?

hi.. so, do u mean before 1-3 weeks, the water's cloudy? cos i've added new sand (washed) to my tank as well and the water's still cloudy after 2 days... and i thought it would only take hrs for the water to clear up...

not just grade 0 sand, grade 1 sand oso very fine... i now adding some c3 sand to my c1 already in tank cos wavemaker creating sand storm if set even at 60 %

Main Tank : 48 inch by 36 inch by 28 inch (2 sides starphire glass)
