Heat emitted from Lights

Hi, just want to see what kind of opinions you guys have, from your experiences using lights for your tank.

Comparing:

(I) 01 x 150W MH Light

(II) 04 x T5 (39W) Lights

1 MH lights has 150W of heat, and 4 T5 (39W) gives off 156W.

Does this mean that the tank receives an equal amount of heat? And for that matter, what happens if it is 06xT5s?

I dun think its equal. MH gives out much more heat.

Wattage is not a measure of heat. I think..

Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth?

Pls correct me if I made a mistake:

the wattage is the power drawn. As T5s are more efficient, energy converted to heat is much less. The wattage is just for you to calculate how much electricity u using. 150w MH cannot compare with 150W T5 in terms of either heat generated or penetrative power. Even though T5's are more efficient, MH does reach better depths.

used to be using 150 MH ...now using 4 x t5s....

heat generated from the former is hot enough to burn your hands if u touch the equipment after half and hour or so...

hardly any pain due to heat at all handling the t5s...after hours and hours of operating

hope that helps..
