Info for Newbie

Hi all,

I am new to this site and would like more info on how to start. I have read quite a few websites that were in this forum.

I would like to know if anyone can give info and steps to start. I was thinking of getting the equipment and tank and some rocks etc.. before getting some fish. Looks like I need to research more on fishes before getting them. Any idea on how I can find out what I should do, what I should read, and where I should go to start?

Are there any shops in the east?

if you are talking abt marine fish shops in the east...

Try

1) Pasir Ris Farmway 1, 2, 3... there are at least 7 marine fish shops

2) Jalan Kayu... there's one there...

THanks. Looking at slowly building up. Maybe will get a 50l tank, then after a few weeks, get some coral. Probably wont get fish till i get more experience. Any idea how much is costs to setup?

setup for 50L less then $100 is more then enough..

but keeping fish is more easy then keeping coral..

Does it include all the equipment? I thought it should cost quite abit for skimmer, chiller, sump etc etc

50L is only a 1.5ft or 2ft tank right?

for basic set up $100 is enough or if u wan 1 time have all the good stuff might need around $500. Depends on what u really wan for ur equipment.. we cant really give u a fix amount

I am looking at a 3ft tank. I'm still quite blur on what the equipment is needed and how to go about starting the tank and cycling it. Anyone can help me on the process?

maybe u can say out what u have already.. this will make it more easy. ur running on sump, overhead ?

actually frankly i dun like going to shops to ask for advice, because only you understand your system, what it can provide for and what it can't

the shop can only give u general advice.

u ask this coral easy or not, as long as not those notoriously hard ones most likely will say quite easy la, just medium light and flow

what i suggest is read in this forum or u make some reefing friends and ask them about their experience with a particular coral u like.

if u wan i can be your friend wahahaha
