bloodlamb
I got it from PetMart. It is use to feed my calcium reactor now. The catch is they don't sell it by itself. It comes with this plastic arch. You are suppose to put the two end of the arch into your tank, the aqualifter will suck air out and fill it up with water and fishes can swim through it like a tunnel. Got it for about $20 as a set. SRC Member shoelevy Posted May 16, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted May 16, 2006 See http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...topic=39434&hl= er bro how exactly do the parts come together? hm any advantages/disadvantages u have noticed in using this to feed your CR instead of other methods such as T-off? thanks man
bloodlamb
The aqualifter is like a air pump. There are two opening, one in and one out (the red end of the pump). The input is connected to the prefilter (the black thing in the packaging) with a flow control valve. The pre-filter is just a small plastic box with some wool. The output is connected to the CR. When you turn it on it will suck air out until water get sucks in and then out to the other end. Think of it as a cheap dosing pump. Advantage: Low Power Quite quiet. Just got a bit of vibration. Much more quiet than air pumps. Can run dry no problem (good for autotop up system). Can push water quite high (good for autotop up system). Less messy than using T-off valves and trying to balance the flow. Disadvantage: Not very strong especially if you use the pre-filter and air bubble get suck in through the tubing joint. I solved it by submersing the entire prefilter into water. Initially I use a T-off to start the feeding. BTW I am using an AquaMedic CR1000. Other application of this pump includes to suck out air from overflow boxes and auto top up (esp of Kalk). Its really good for auto top up you just need to send one tube into your topup container. bloodlamb
Not sure about flow rate. I think its about 10-20 l/hr max according toMarine Depot website (3.5G/hr) I run it over total 3m of tubing 1.5FT head max flow rate is about <4ml/sec ~ 14l/hr
