SRC Member arcanehacker Posted May 15, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted May 15, 2006 I have a tank with overflow that sucks water from the bottom.. Because of this, water at the surface accumulates stuff.. anyway I can integrate a surface skimmer? Where would the water flow to? To sump then water level in sump would probably rise.. not good idea eh? Surface back to tank again? Possible and how? But then again detrus would probably go back into the tank.. any other way to prevent oil and stuff build up? SRC Member arcanehacker Posted May 15, 2006 Author SRC Member Share Posted May 15, 2006 Pic of tank? I can't really take it coz its either too blur or angle not right.. my tank has a corner for the water to flow down to my sump.. thing is the water is sucked from the bottom of that corner.. Attached is just a simple drawing by my dog.. .. as you can see the arrow is the water flow. the surface is therefore stagnant with oil buildup. SRC Member arcanehacker Posted May 15, 2006 Author SRC Member Share Posted May 15, 2006 y dun u add a over flow pipe to the side. the flow can be adjust by a ball valve. I was thinking of that after seeing the diy section but.. but if I were to do that, my sump is gonna overflow somehow. Co since my return pushes water into tank and then out, it means the water level is maintained. But if extra water is going in to the sump, means it will overflow.. SRC Member arcanehacker Posted May 16, 2006 Author SRC Member Share Posted May 16, 2006 I am one who is always causing things to break.. not my cup of tea.. hehe I just though of a small overflow filter with a surface skimmer. More equipments but at least its safer . Quote Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth? SRC Member Tanga Posted May 16, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted May 16, 2006 Bro you can make a small overflow box like bro chrisyew did and a U piping. The U pipe should be connected from the new overflow box to your current 1. Then you need pump water from the new box to the current box. SRC Member arcanehacker Posted May 16, 2006 Author SRC Member Share Posted May 16, 2006 sounds deep.. need time to digest that. But seems like fun.. is there a link to how he made that? SRC Member Tanga Posted May 16, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted May 16, 2006 The 1 in the pic is my office tank overflow box so same concept only bro chrisyew box is elongated downwards which I think not a good idea because it will defeat the purpose of removing oil from the surface. here the bro chrisyew diy link http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=48443
