TetraTest KH

Hi, I have just bought TetraTest KH test kit but there is no English instructions. Have anyone used it b4? I have asked around and someone told me to add 1 drop and the water will turn blue. After that, continue to add until the water turns yellow. If the water turns yellow after adding 8-12 drops, does that means that the water is alrite? Does the 8-12 drops include the first drop? Do you need to shake the water after every drop as the water will turn yellow at the surface of the water after every drop. I have tried last nite and the water still remains blue after the 9th drop and turns yellow after the 10th drop. What does that mean? Please kindly advise. Thanks a lot.

I've used a KH test kit from Aqumedi(some ulu brand) before. Something very similiar to yours too. If im not mistaken, after every drop you are suppose to swirl the test water in the vial abit. Yes, the 1st drop is counted. For my test kit, it says

"Shake after each drop until the colour turns from blue over green into yellow. The number of drops is equal to the carbonate hardness(dKH).

Hope this helps. For your case, i'll interperate your test result as having a carbonate hardness of 10dkh. This is just a guide, check with the LFS you got the test kit from, they'll be able to advice you better. :)

Bryan, u r rite.

Just continue using Tetra lor, IMO cheap and reliable.

The first drop counts. and the last one suppose to be when the water turns as yellow as the solution drop.

Hi Andylee, there is some hand written notes on the instructions by the lfs owner. It states that 8-12 drops turns yellow. Does that mean it's alrite and within the limit and no need to add ph buffer?

I guess he means that if it turns yellow within 8-12 drops means alright lor.. cos 8-12 drops means 8-12 dkh which is the acceptable level.

but if urs turn yellow before 8 drops or after 12 drops then need to buffer

Thanks a lot. Andylee. I also feel that within 8-12 drops should be alrite. But the lfs owner told me otherwies which makes me worried. Anyway, thank once again. Cheers.
