hey jazzben81, congrats!

if you insist to breed the fry in the parent tank, then maybe you can place the fry inside a temporary container inside the tank while you are siphoning the detritus.

I remember once my seahorse give birth to few hundreds too.. my whole 3ft tank is full..

But that time I didn't prepare any brimp shrimp..

1st day still swimming around

2nd 1/2 missing..

3rd all missing..

So I removed my LR and noticed that all dead under my LR already..

i realised my mistake.. No food and Light..

SO remember to put a small lamp 24hrs.

Tank 4x2x2.5

Hi,

Remember to take out other species of SH from the tank as well. Leave behind only the parents. Else other species will eat the ponies. I witness barbouri adult eating up tigertail ponies. Was shocked and surprised. So lesson learn is remove away other species other than the parents.

wah that is new to me! I didn't know adult SH feed on other SH species babies. My fry always go missing if I left them in parents' tank, but I never see them being eaten.

maybe next time I will pay more attention to verify this behaviour.

Hi Real,

It's new to me until I witness it. I transferred about 90% of the pony to nursery, left abt 40-50 fry in main tank. After 1 hour, realise that almost all the fry are gone. Saw the adult barbouri feeding on the pony like mysis, eating up one after another. Cannot imagine that the hard skeleton pony can be digested by the barbouri. It's a seahorse eat seahorse world out there. <_<
