It can be anywhere from 8-12 hours. It's up to you and depends on what you are keeping.

If it is 400W or 1000W then 6 hours will be sufficient. Anything less you'll have to increase the photoperiod ot compensate.

hmmm.... when I ran 800w on one side of my tank for only 6 hours, the colours of my acros were not as bright as compared to when I increased the photoperiod to 12 hours! ;)

I'm aiming for a total of 10hours in future, giving my corals enough time to adapt... ;)

i got horrible problem tank is in my room beside me. and during the day . im either lying around my room . or sleeping or just yea lying around. and the bright lights from the tnak disturb me. some days i go out whole day . so my photoperiod is

monday 2-6pm tuesday 11-6 wednesday 7-12am thursday 11-5pm etc.

That's extremely stressful for corals!! Prepare to see SPS bleaching or RTNing.... it is better to follow a fixed photoperiod and not jump all over the shop. Don't play play! :blink:
