The instruction on the container stated 1 "cup" of table salt for 0.5 gallon of water. but it didn't say how big the cup should be So if any bros have recharged care to share?

just bought salifert test kit.. shows between 20 and 40 mg/L whew.. different measurement units..

sera still shows 40ppm (or more)

my dsb has started to kick in (reduction in ugly algae) slowly but surely..

I have not tested the water parameters for nitrate and I am lousy at testing. I normally check by visual whether fishes are OK, corals opening more, etc. Any improvement? Yes. But still I will eventually get a denitrator when I have time to meddle with the tank. That's all bro.

I think it works to a certain extent only by reducing NO3 marginally otherwise those proven equipment would be worthless.

dunno whether it works or not .. but test wise ..(photo shows aqualight test kit .. similar to salifert)

tetra test shows 100ppm (never changed) .. maybe spoilt

then again .. 1 month time is up .. my RDSB should be up and working liao

fish and inverts and corals .. erm .. look happy

during the NO3 spike .. some of my fishes get white spots also .. now no more ..

Anyway .. it's turning yellow in the sump (dunno from dirt or what ) slowly ..

Guess it's a good backup as long as you have something that brings down NO3
