SRC Member Clownfish Posted May 3, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted May 3, 2006 from what i heard if u want to upgrade anything u have to go back to dell. as they have some special lock or component on all the chips that's true tink for thread starter it might be worth the trouble to look for a cheap acer laptop? do look out for whether 3 years warranty is offered... standard is 1 yr but during some promotions might offer 3 years Quote My Personal Blog My Wedding Website

JasonM
I am also using that kind of model of notebook for my personal use. It’s been with me for 5 months. I also purchased the 3 years warranty and memory upgrade (1GB). I know still considered new but still going steady and the speed and performance is above my expectation for what I paid for. SRC Member somebody Posted May 4, 2006 Author SRC Member Share Posted May 4, 2006 Seems like this is the only model for an ACER for about the same price. but the specs seems quite far off. hmm... i hate "hot laptops" Acer
SRC Member Kelmen Posted May 4, 2006 SRC Member Share Posted May 4, 2006 there isn't really a cool or cold laptop around..... for the so-much power numer crunching and videoing, and sounding, multimedia, its expected the thing do run hot. as long as its not boiling an egg its ok. Best chk the power lifespan, its the main ingredient of the laptop. most ppl overlook this feature. The min is 3 hours (old tech, quality, used-up, and old standard) one should expect about 5 hours continual using (not multi-media intensive) gl
JasonM
That's why called it now notebook not laptop coz the heat it produced is no longer advisable to put in your lap.
yooyoo99
heard from friend that dell after service is not positive (not personal opinion). get acer if u not worry about the quality, heard from a shop acer after sales is fantastic, but i think acer price is higher, not too sure. me using toshiba, cost me 2 legs and an arm
