Tuning ur skimmer

hi guys ,

do u guys tune to dry skimate or wet skimate ? And what is the rationale of that ? Recently i just tune to dry because i am lazy to go and change the collection cup often .

Lighting: AI hydra 52HD

Skimmer: Deltec SC 1455

Reactor: Minimax; rowaphos

Skimz  ; NP biopellets

Wave Maker: MP 40 WQD

Return pump: Eheim 1262

Chiller: Arctica 1/10 hp

yeah.. I set it dry.. wet means must top up salt water.

Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth?

may i know wat skimmer u are using for dry skim?

I'm using a 4ft (or maybe 3ft+.. not sure measure till where :P . top of cup?) Beckett.

usually gotta clean cup every 5 days or so..

Let's put the laziness aside... which type of skimmate can possibly remove more waste? I got a feeling semi wet skimming :D I emptied my cup every 3 days, normally not full.

i learnt from a guru(dun ask who) who builds his own skimmers and has extensive knowledge

he told me wet can help pull out no3.

after no3 is down to minimum, tune to dry to save on salt water

and when i went home to practise what he said, sure enough that's what i observed.

other than that i just tune wet so that the cup isn't that dirty...lol

I believe wet brings out more stuff.. just need more topping up.
