Blue Eyes Changing Colour

Hi fellow reefers, i have 3 blue eyes in my tank. One of them (the largest) recently started developing black fins. Is it undergoing some ###### change?

Attached picture shows the 1 with black fins(middle) and the other with normal colouration. Thanks in advance for the help!

Wow...that sounds cool. So i guess that 1 is the male. Its the biggest and most aggressive between the 3 of them. Wondering what it'll look like after it has completed its change.

ZZzZZzzZz.....haha, i'll faint if my blue-eyes turn into a wrasse. Haha, saw 1 leopard wrasse today in this LFS in chinatown. Looks different from the 2 i have but resisted buying it. Reserving some space for a scotts fairy.

Oh, if you want, the 1 in my avatar costs $7 only. I find it nicer than the maldives one. Think i saw 1 or 2 in Irwana on Wednesday. Bought mine somewhere else though.

Haha, i repeat AgAIn! My wrasses ARE NOT for sale. Stop aiming them! Haha....anyway think recently got alot of wrasse shipment. Keep a lookout and im sure you'll be able to find them. When is the next shipment of leopard wrasse for AM anyway?

Hey, thanks!~ I heard they are difficult and listed under Expert Only fishes in LiveAquaria but im having no problems with them till now. Both have started feeding and roaming around the tank openly. The only thing is they'll disappear somewhere during the evening. Early sleepers i guess.

Are the leopards reef safe? They look very stunning. The last time I had a coris and it became a nuisance and kept turning my coral on the sandbed upside down to look for pods or food. Ended up a few of my brains got damaged and never recovered. Not sure whether the leopards will do the same.

BTW, the blue eyes anthias are actually the female of lyretail. Looks like one of yours is transforming to a male due to the absence of a male in your tank. You can search the LiveAquaria for their pictures.

The down side from my experience is that if they transform from female to a male in captivity, the color will not be as vibrant as if they where in the wild. You can let us know if it is true.

Yes the leopard wrasses are reef safe. They do not disturb my corals at all. The coris is not reef safe though. Hrmz, for the anthias thats morphing, hope the colours will be nice. But well, its pretty amazing to see your fish change.
