Skimmer ?

Return pump ?

Ur sump got partition wan ?

Maybe some miricle mud or marcro algae ?

(chaeto or ulva more safe)

If got algae then dun forget lights.

If ur fish like pods, then maybe U can put

some LR in sump to cultivate some. They will

follow the return pump to main tank so no need

specially think of way to get them there.

Firstly, how big is ur sump?

If not big, then having a refugium is optional. One thing I notice about refugium is... u need a lot of them to be able to make a difference to the system. If only a bit... might as well use up that space for a Nitrate Removal Reactor. But if you have a large compartment (can fit roughly 3 to 4 handful of Chaetos) then it's a beneficial step. The Chaetos can also let u breed pods and most importantly, control ur tank pH esp. at night. Reverse the refugium lighting (opposite that of ur main tank) and u will be able to avoid the night water being too acidic.

The essentials are (IMO):

1. Return pump (a good, reputable, quiet, reliable, low power consumption) as it is the heart of the whole system

2. Protein skimmer (the best u can possibly afford, look for overpower skimmers)

3. Activated carbon

4. Nitrate control

5. Phosphar control

6. Extra surfaces for bacteria growth (biohome, small pieces of LR, bactoballs, etc.)

7. Polyfilter

You can get dedicated FRs to run your media like Rowa and carbon...make them more efficient than putting them into bags... :)

bro how much is a FR and what pump to use with it ?

IMO, FR's are good investments.. it'll allow the phos absorbtion media to work to its fullest potential instead of clumping together.. and these media don't come cheap..

as for carbon, i put them in my first compartment where good flow is allowed to pass thru it.. din use a FR for carbon cos its fairly cheaper compared to phos removal media..

just my 0.02cents :)
