That's why some reefers used 2 pumps 1 solely for return and the other for chiller direct to main tank so won't have this problem.

this has got something to do with the back pressure issue..im not sure of this...

anyway...how big can the flow of the chiller go..the max is 800l/ht only not enough to cover a 4ft tank..n another query is whether the water can be pushed up to a height the tank is another prob....

did'nt know chiller only can use 800l/hr pump but I seen reefers using ehiem 1262 pump for thier chiller.

that is to cut short the runtime of the chiller IMO..

if u take a 1/4hp chiller to chill a 4ft tank side by side....u can do a test whether the one with the 800l/hr will chill faster or the one witht he ehiem 1262 will chill faster....

IMO...its the 800l/hr wan will chill the water faster....if the water pass through the refrigerent so fast..how izzit going to be chilled..

its the same logic wad...the bigger the HP...the runtime will be even more shorter with the use of a 800l/h pump...in tis case.....example is a 1/4 HP takes 1hr to chill a 4ft tank....den maybe the 1/2HP will take 40mins to do so....bcos of the larger cooling coil...

To me its all about quantity vs quality.. at slower flow rate, you get quality return. at faster flow rate, you get quantity at lower quality return.. but in these cases, quantity flow rate might not be a bad thing since its compensated by fast water flow which will add up to a cool tank also..

i did not sae ehiem 1262 CANNOT be use wad...and ur 2nd link..they also mention that fast flowrate will lead to damaging the tube oso..so in the end it also leads to the lifespan problem...

anyway..its up to everyone to believe...there is also a discussion abt the pressure tink of the chiller somewhere...but i wun go search....guess its ur own choice...
