What do you use in your filter?

I thought of using Seachem's Phosguard alone. I saw Seagel which appears to be phosguard and carbon, and was thinking I can get a lot of carbon for a lot less, so I might as well get a whole bottle of phosguard rather than half phosguard and half expensive carbon.

After doing some reading, it seems like phosguard contains aluminium oxide which has been reported to affect coral opening. Anyone has these issues?

In addition, what else should I keep in the filter?

Mine showing a pix of ur setup or some basic specs? It's quite hard for us to advice without knowing ur actual setup. But 1 thing for sure is, Phosguard alone cannot do the job, normally u will need a combination of stuff such as active carbon and etc. :)

Oh, it's a tiny tank, 18x18x30 cm. Just rocks and polyps so far.

At this point in time there's a diatom bloom. I try to keep the organics in check with weekly water changes.

A Pico... emm... phosguard can do the job I believe...unless u wanna try Rowaphos. There's also Rowaphos Sponge, contains both Rowahos and carbon 2-in-1... but quite costly. Check Reefdepot.com.sg

What's yr Phosphate lvl?
