Possible. But you are better off using T5 for such a tiny tank. The heat from a MH is no joke and temp fluctuations with such a small water volume could be fatal unless you have a good chiller operating fast enough to cope with the heat.

Do a search on T5, the info is all there, LYFDTW.

It's a flourescent tube, except more efficient and thinner in diameter.

Actually, for 1 foot, it's not possible to use T5. You will be better off with MH. A MH reflector is about 1' in size anyway.

1ft with Mh.Almost thought of doing it for my 1ft nocturnal tank. then i realised. That 1ft reflector is going to be reflecting light 3 feet out the sides of the tank

the light from the MH bounces of the reflector and ends up on the floor beside it... result... waste of light!... unless u put your MH very close to your tank but temp would increase and u will not have space at the top to do maintenance...

what do u mean by 3ft outside....do u mean that if i use a 1 ft reflector, i can cover the whole 3ft tank light with Mh lighting?

if that true then no need to get 2 bulbs for 3ft lioa! yipee
