Need help setup aglae tank

Recommended Posts

Think to setup a 1.5 ft tank with oni algae and 2 fish.

So what I need??

Light that I using will be PL light (6.5K), Bio-ring, Bio-ball, ammonia

filter, DIY skimmer.

Do I need CO2??

  :thanks:

Nice concept... always wanted to do that... let the macroalgae outgrow the tank and it will look really close to nature. Add some shrimps also lah.

But if it's only macroalgae + 2 tiny fish... (maybe some cleaning crew)... ur light maybe a little too weak, what's ur total watt? Remember macroalgae depends 100% on photosynthesis... Bio-ring and Bio Ball maybe a bit redundant since most of the nutrients will be absorbed by the macroalgae (lighting must be bright lah)... u dun want the bioballs fighting with ur macroalgae for the same resources.

Ammonia filter not too sure also, if u cycle the tank properly, with healthy live rocks, I think ammonia will not be a problem at all... skimmer is important, make sure u DIY a very good one. No need CO2...

Must also look at plenty of water movement... also makes ur tank look nicer. If you can have 2 alternating pump on each side of the tank... more real! :)

Remember to add in some live rocks. Some live rocks come with a lot of macroalgae attached to it... so get those lor.

Good luck and remember to post a thread in the members section to share with us ur your great setup.
