4 feet dupla MH

hi guys,just purchased a 4 feet MH dupla wif a fellow reefer here,quite pissed as he told me it was a 5 footer n when i reached his place,one of the bulb was fused,n it was onli 4 feet,nevertheless ,i still gt the light as i believe ppl frm sg reef r honest ppl.ended up i payed a price,after half day usage,the ballast fused(connector melted!!!) ,went to Bio Ocean to look for my friend Kenny to fix it,in the end,have to fork out 200 plus for the ballast n a new MH tube,now,its still in B.O.A for repair,btw,i paid $400 for that,but ill sell it off as soon as its repaired even if at a loss.im upgrading to 250w next month n planing to sell at a loss @ $250 onli .guys can have a look @ B.O.A for better look at the MH .thanks

Next time buy direct from Kenny since he is your friend and all the while Bio-ocean is a great place to visit.

Tough luck. Did u check w the seller if the MH is 2nd hand? For all u know, it may have been 3rd hand or 4th hand(Meaning, apart from the seller using it, other ppl have also use it). I have been a victim myself from other sale in some other forum. Good luck.

I think when you buy something you so have checked and if after checking still buy and now you have a problem you should call the person who sold you. Not post in a forum. Maybe he will be willing to exchange or something. Sometimes just don't understand you ppl here is to make friends not enemies. I have seen the Dupla b4 and after he showed me I didn't buy from him because I think its faulty after he showed me and I could have got something cheaper and low and behold I did. So if you didnt felt like buying dont buy just walk out and the word cheated is a very strong word to use. Honestly I believe you should be man enough to call him instead of post here.

Question is spolit why you still buy? felt obligated?

next time something like that happen, just take it as a tank visit and talk ###### session, smile, thank him for his time, and then hit the yellow brick road.

and even though on principle i have to object to ah buk posting his photos and nicks, im secretly glad to know what he looks like. its a real good warning to everyone.

Well, you do have to be careful in buying things here. I overheard a story where one of the reefers here bought something from another reefer here. And when he arranged for all the transport and man power to go to the other person's house, the price suddenly increased.

So he "lan lan" top up the amount, otherwise the movers fee is wasted.

thanks for the infor guys,i didnt meant to,but when i saw its workin,i just take loh,its about trust man,cost i bought quite some stuff frm ppl in src,they r all great stuff,even if i call tat guy,i onli would quarrel wif him,wat for?nvm,lessons learnt,thanks for all ur time bros,no hard feelings!

I do have the full details, as I overheard this from someone else. But I think it is a fish tank, otherwise you won't need movers. You know the details?

This is only wat I hear from another reefer (the victim himself). Seller agrees on one price. But when buyer arrives at his house w movers and transport to move tank and cabinet, seller decided to increase price by $100. Since manpower and transport arrange liao, so LL accept the price. opps sori for off topic. This tread is abt the dupla mh.

very well said.. there is no such thing as feeling obligated to buy. Afraid the seller will brand you a pilot? or do you want to waste hundreds of $$ and keep your status clear?

This is also one of the reason why I really don't believe in putting in a deposit for second hand stuff.

See and test in person then cash payment on the spot is the best practice.
