AT: Created this thread to discuss the possibility of more enjoyable long-haul dive trips to malaysia using AirAsia flights!

I wonder when I will pay homage to Tokong Laut again... the bus journey was hell. Maybe if I can fly there... I wouldn't mind.

Hopefully AirAsia will have a cheap flight from JB to KL to near that place. :)

Flight from JB to KL? From KL it will be another 8 hours to Kuala Terrenganu.

I prefer AirAsia flight to Kuala Terrenganu itself. I think Berjaya Air fly to Pulau Redang from KL.

From KL there is a domestic flight (MAS, Pelangi) to K. Terengganu. 45mins flight.

So you could get from Singapore-KL-K.Terenganu in less than 2 hours.

Need to check if there is a domestic flight from JB to K. Terengganu Sultan Mahmud Airport.

WOW!!! I'll go to Perhentian/Redang for my dives more often man! No more Tioman for me! No more frozen, sleep impossible, ######-numbing bus rides, yippee!!! :)

Beside Airasia, there's another ValueAir right ? Wonder if they proivde the same service ?

Of cos, best would be JB-Trenggannu. Then AT, you bet I will be the second to go Redang and Perhentian often :D

1. Two way Singapore to KLIA vice versa-> (RM 19.99 x 2) - RM 5.00 = RM 34.98

2. Two way Kuala Terengganu to KLIA vice versa -> (RM 29.99x2) - RM5.00 = RM54.98

Total 2-way Flight Cost : RM 89.96 Approx SGD$ 41.64

2 flights a day.

Morning and evening.

The only problem is finding a connecting flight once you reach KLIA.

You need to wait 8+ hours to get your connecting flight. :(

E.g

JB (0840) -> KL (0925) connecting flight KL(2045) - TGG(2135)

TGG(0830) -> KL (0920) connecting flight KL(1955) - JB(2040)

or

JB (2105) -> KL (2150) connecting flight next morning KL(0715) - TGG(0805)

TGG(2200) -> KL (2250) connecting flight next morning KL(0730) - JB(0815)

8 hours??? That totally negates the quick & comfortable travelling time! Well... 8 hours... can still slip into KL city for shopping and makan... ;) But not WITH HEAVY DIVE GEAR!!! :(

That's not taking into account the land transport from TGG airport to the island ferry pickup jetty/beach!

Well, look at it this way, at least you will not be cramp up on the bus for 12hrs. :)

But 8hrs for connecting flight, hmmm.... meaning cost will go up if get a hotel to stay over. Of cos' if a few share share for a room, i think its still reasonable.
