I've always wanted to have a bubbe coral in my tank! Thats my sole reason of starting this hobby!

But wat are its requirements? Light? Food? Flow? Do they sting?

Any help is appreciated! ;)

bubble corals are one of the hardiest LPS IMO....they do not lyk strong current...place them in a area that is very low in current...

feeding wise i do strongly tink dosing liquidfied plankton food is enough...wad im using now is marine snow...

lighting wise...wad u mention is sufficient...

jus my 2 cents.. :D

According to what i understand from my limited knowledge, bubbles are one of the LPS corals that will more likely sting other corals. Its safe to add a few bubble corals together though. As a general guide, its safer to leave some space in between different species...just to make sure. :) 55W should be good enough to meet their lighting requirements. :) They are one of the most hardy corals in my tank...

Erm....personally i have not heard of anyone fragging bubble corals before. Maybe its due to my limited reefing experience but it seems pretty dangerous since the skeleton is more or less in a snigle piece, unlike those branching corals that you can frag easily by just dividing the branches. Think it'll be pretty unwise to break the skeleton, exposing the flesh. Just my thoughts, any experienced reefer can comment? :)

Erm, bubbles can cost anything from the range of 20+ to close to a hundred for a large sized specimen. I don't think the bubbles are priced by how big each individual bubble is, rather...the nicer the colouration...the higher the price will be. But of course there are the pearl bubbles with generally very small individual bubbles.....they are normally cheaper than the normal bubbles. :)

Sounds confusing? Sorry...just as a guide....the larger bubble on the top which is approx 1 ft when fully expanded costed me around $80...the smaller one below it can really remember the price. The white piece on the right (pearl bubble) i got for around $25? Cant really remember the exact price.... :)
