Its on the papers....

Lifted from Today [21 March '06, pp.1]

"It was also feared that many parts of the Great Barrier Reef, treasured as the world's largest living organism, were killed by Cyclon Larry."

Lifted from Today [21 March '06, pp.2]

"The Great Barrier Reef, the centrepiece of Australia's multi-billion dollar tourism industry, bore the brunt of the battering."

"You are looking at the death of all corals on parts of the reef that were affected by the winds and the waves...."

"All hard All hard corals, sponges, and sea fans live stuck to the sea floor like a tree is rooted in one place. So they would have had to take the brunt of it. Most of the bigger animals would have swam away...."

"A much smaller storm last year... damaged coral over a 160km wide path in a reef that is 2,000km long. rocovery there could take 10 to 20 years... The fallout from Cyclone Larry could be much worse."

I wonder how is the intensity of the damage caused to The Great Barrier Reef....

Wa, part of the great barrier reef kana

destroyed leh. So how? :unsure:

Anybody want to fly down & donate their

SPS back into the ocean? :angel:

I don't think we can do much since.

We can't plant SPS back or it won't

be natural anymore right. Just give

it time to recover loh & don't pee in

the sea when U go there for snokling

trips. The nitrate spike won't help loh.

:evil::evil::evil:
