Detritus Eaters

WHat can help clear detritus ???

I have a Sand Star ... but its prolly overworked for my 4 feet ....

And a Brittle Star which I don't think is earning its pay .....

What else can I get ?

Cuke ? (too big)

Sand Dollar (how effective compared to Sand Stars ?)

Stroumbus ? (what are they anyways ?)

Sand Dollar: so so for me.. like to dig into sand and then "disappear" still unsure how efficient

I have a sea cuke and a sand shifter for my 3ft. The sea cuke is pretty hardworking....never see the sand shifter star aroudn much though.

strombus they eat algae instead i think

brittle stars they do help but they eat only they leftover food so not really useful.

Sand dollars are good. I see a marked improvement on my sand bed.

recommended to get 1 sand dollar per ft of tank size.

they do sometimes do the vanishing act into the sand bed, and appear few days later. but so long they leave 'road marks' on your sand bed means they are still alive and kicking.

2 Spot Goby...never disappears and you can always fun to see it working. Mine vaccums the nanocube sand to its white glory in 2 days.

anyway, the sea cukes just eject all their intestines out. but they are really hardworking, but dun worth taking the risk.

Wow, that sounds gross. Hopes mine doesn't do that...... Any idea what causes them to do that?

The sig spot on their fin attract unnecessary attention.....

Hi,

My sandbed cleaning crew consists of Cerith snails, strombus snails and 1 tiger sea cuke.

The good thing abt the tiger cuke is that it does not climb up the glass and so unlikely to get caught in any powerhead. Dun see this guy much, only comes out at night, sort of the night shift team..

but can see the result of his hard work - balls of clean sand

sand dollar are good,but slow.My sandbed use to have alot of algae and detritus now it is white.I saw my sand dollar even Climb over my rocks

Tiger cuke ??

Got a pic ? All cukes I ever see are black , black and black ....

Gobies don't work for me ......

My triggers and groupers have killed a couple already ....

I feel like a cuke cause I've heard they're REALLY effective ......

So sand dollars are comparable to sand stars ???
