it was actually avaliable when it first came out.. that was bout a year back.. and only few stores willing to carry them..

maybe because of the price and the ability to cool tanks. its meant maybe only for nanos.. and at $200+, people would rather topup a bit more for a cheap chiller.

I just wonder if it works i I place it in the sump.. my sump get pretty warm because of the pumps.. if I place it there, probably the water will get bit cool before it gets pump up into the main tank.

Why do we use "My 2 cents worth" when 1 cents are not legal tender in Singapore anymore? Shouldn't it be 5 cents worth?

Hi there,

Me currently using the ice-probe for my nano tank... chose it cos it doesnt take up too much space due to space constraints in my house... so far so good...tho the temperature wun get "freezing " cold due to its small size..but corals have been ok and growing...

I also got an Iceprobe but have not use it yet. But I do know that it works well for small tanks.

True TEM coolers in general will run the whole day in our kind of climate, don't even bother getting the controller. Power consumption if it runs the whole day (50W for iceprobe) for a month is only about $7 per month. And the low noise and nil maintenance, makes it an ideal choice for a small tank.

Only good for tanks smaller than 2ft.

I just got 2 iceprobe for my 30G, even use to the electric only 100W so it should save electricity.

I haven't set it up as I still need to fix a sump to accomodate it.

These iceprobe is actually quite commonly used in Dielectric water cooler so if you can get a second hand dielectric cooler, they still can be used.

I install in the top of the sump. See my thread. I use 2 iceprobe then for my 30G main + 10G sump = 40G...

Then temp I acheive... 29 deg... now use a coolant chiller. Nottin higher than a 2 ft tank... for iceprobe.
