Pump super hot

Recommended Posts

hello..

I have a dymax pump which is super hot after operating for just 1 hr plus lidat.. It is running outside water to power my chiller. Anyone using dymax pump experience this heqat prob too? The pump faulty?

I have another explanation for this heat thing.. the outlet of this pump is of a certain diameter, but i fit this to a smaller diameter tubing. So effectively, i am restricting the ourflow from the pump. Could this be the reason that cause the pump to generate so much heat? It is really hot to touch.. i off it as i deem it's too dangerous liao :(

any opinion on this matter?

Try not to restrict the flow and see if the heat problem subsides. If so, either don't restrict the flow or change to another pump of low wattage. High wattage pumps are sure to run hot.

Always something more important than fish.

dymax pump might not be suiable to use externally.

most pump make from china or taiwan are water cooled .

This dymax pump is meant for insump and external usage.. they have a water inlet pipe. I run once in my sump and it turned my 3 ft tank from 'cool to touch' temp to lukewarm kind of temp.. <_<

I will try to split the flow from this pump and see if it rectifies the heat prob
