Reef advices needed

Hi. Can anyone recommend what additives/supplements I should get for keeping of buttons polyps and mushrooms?

very very very harly no supplements required!

There is special interest group in reef central (RC) for zoanthids. perhaps you might want to visit the forum for more info on keeping button polyps. I remember reading in that forum, RC, and also from a book I borrowed from the library that you will need to dose iodine (but in minute quantities).

no idea if mushrooms need supplements..

I intend to stock more of these buttons and mushrooms. I feel that they r lovely.

In order to maintain them well, I just need to do regular water changes and it is enuff?

Do i need to feed them wif planktons and micro-verts?

Add seachem Reef Plus..... should be enough.

And DT Live P......can also feed them with mysis or brine shrimp.

They just need light....but not too much light for mushrooms...too intense lighting will burn them literally.

If he is packing up his tank with all soft corals....I believe adding Reef Plus is essenital.

Iodine is depleted through time.

Beware though...Iodine is very easily overdosed...and can have disastrous effects...Pls check up on natural seawater concentrations before dosing..and always be on the safe side...underdosing is better..

If i din remember wrongly it's around 0.06mg/litre in Natural seawater...

If you want them to thrive and grow faster....thats the way.

Of course the basics elements must be fulfiled first.

About the phytoplankton it is still not really confirmed if it is need for the health of mushrooms... cause I read from an issue of TFH...they put the mushroom corals under cnidarians...same group as anemones and hard corals...

they mentioned something like not all cnidarians can depend totally on photosynthesis alone...cause photosynthesis will only provide carbohydrates...proteins needed for growth will have to be obtained via external sources...

Not sure how true is it...but it does sound logical..
