perhaps you could provide a picture so others might be better positioned to answer your query? id chance the guess that its a cyanobacteria species if its sticky.

Purple sticky stuff, proabali cyanobacteria(ex. alage) formation. Check water parameters, do water changes, increase flow around this areas, are some of the steps you could perform. If everthing is OK, hey will gone with a time.
