Hi,

been asked many times what u feed, how, when etc.......

just to share that i ve been breeding the seahorses for the past 9years and many times very close to shutting it down.

I must honestly say its VERY TIME CONSUMING and A LOT OF EFFORT PLUS DELICATION required.

To me -The challenge to having consistent results and to produce offsprings one generation after another.

over the years, lots of data been recorded on their behaviour, feeding routines, courtship dance, how they swim in darkness, do they sleep? Are they monogamous etc,. So in brief,

jst some points to anyone interested to raising seahorse fry which i strongly encourage.(hobby or commercial)

1) U MUST de-cap your artemia cysts

2) Try to use the small strain artemia to feed the frys.(i do not feed them roifers at all)

3) feed them every 2-3hrs interval.( i feed them first feed-4am, last feed-8pm)

4) Never ever drop all the artemia nauplii (like horse shit) into the nursery at one go.

a snap shot of a loving couple to end off.

frm the seahorse whisperer!

Hi Say Meng,

Good to see that you are still active.

I have since shifted into reef liao.

Btw, wonder whether you or anyone here know whether there are any chance of getting H.Zostreas in Singapore?

Cheers,

Gouldian ;)

Sorry bro,

this specie is hard to get & most sources r unable to provide the CITIES certification if available.

consider keeping juv captive bred reidis lah, put into a small tank & it sould remain small size for a very long time. We have seen several juvs, remaining rather small though they have past the the age to achieve average 'national' length. Kinda like the emperor seahorse size, cute fellas. Also these captive ones can show their colour faster and nice patterns.

had a cross between kuda x reidi offspring several years back. Guess what, u do not a new speice, but some looking like kudas, others the reidis. also seems that the kuda complex could b found in the genes of reidis(according to some scientist).

at this point of time, still reasearching other factors affecting their colour change other than the 'camouflage' theory. (All out of pocket expenses.)

Thanks bro,

Didn't know that the problem is due to no CITES. What about Ocean Rider?

I wouldn't mind keeping CB Reidi if there are any with good colourations (Red Mustang! :yeah: ). Let me know if you have any available.

Thanks again,

frm wat i know, Ocean rider do not export outsidethe US.

there r lost of suppliers out there, its just if they can supply the CITIES cert for the seahorses.

i think chris has some nice CB reidi as well, try contacting him if they r for sale.

my regret that chinmo has stop the propagation, great job he had done.

Thanks bro,

Will contact Chris then.

Yup, its a waste that Chinmo have given up, he is another guy that I used to turn to when I need help with my horses.

Anyway, glad to see you sharing with us your interest again. Hope that one day, reefers can visit your shop again.

Btw, do you still have decaps bbs eggs? I like the strains that I have gotten from you last time, the hatch rate is great! I am now using those from Brine Shrimp Direct. :D
