Using the Testpen to check the top glass thickness area, where there is heavy leakage.

( light will emit brighter if there is heavy leak.)

Get the small crocodile clip from electronic shop and a single wire connect to the earthing pin of the 3pin plug. Clip to the glass thickness area where u detect the leak and plug into the socket with the switch at "Off Position".

ur problem will solve.

My 1st question would be have u done one and tired it .. If yes just post pictures.

2nd question would be have u ever consider the fact that ur " crocodile clip " might rust when they is splashes . Not forgetting one very important factor..

Ur wire is contain copper inside and is not water proof .. Use it unless u want to get rid of all ich from ur fishes ...

khenguan:

1) the crocodile clip WILL rust after a while.

2) depending on the material of the croc clip, if it is less reactive than copper THEN the copper wire will rust first instead, which leads to broken connection which you can't see cuz the copper wire is covered in the wire sheath, even more dangerous. sekali the wall electrical pt also rust.

3) I don't see how glass conducts electricity, prob cuz of salt creep on the glass wall, which might also explain the differing voltage leakage you get cuz areas of more salt creep may conduct better, cuz technically there should be equal leakage everywhere in the tank, so anyhow still safer to have an actual probe in the water itself.

4) if your test pen can light up, its pretty scary  , cuz it means you have current leakage, which means you REALLY have a leakage and not just induced voltage, should test and remove the leaking equipment and not rely on the ground probe to simply remove the leakage.

5) I agree totally your croc clip idea works, but it isn't as foolproof as a titanium probe as grounding.

6) but thanx for sharing your own DIY anyway! :D

I use an allegator clip (connected to earth) and clip it on the edge of tank.  Test pen don't light up anymore.  This could be a temporary solution.   :)

HEY, I posted the idea first <_<:D:lol:

Anyway, I've tested and it works. Before ac 95 volts, after ac 0 volt. As I say, its a temporary solution.

Hi Seahorse, I'll will like to attend the DIY session. Any instruction?

Just wondering if you will be doing the diy that have the diode so that it will light up when there's current in the tank? Think someone posted the link of such diy in this forum b4. If not, it perfectly fine. the one u have here looks cool anyway. :D
