Hi all,

There were talks about stray voltages lingering the tank due to faulty equipment.

Any of you have purchased or DIY a grounding for the fish tank to prevent electric shock ?

Appreciate any feedback.

Thanks

Wear shoes or stand on a chair while you are working on your tank...

You won't feel anything after that.  ;)

Really?? Does that help?? I was wearing those home-slippers & still got electrocuted the other time (my right hand was in the water when I dropped the lights with my left hand - bad juggling act lah).

Think I remember someone using a piece of Titatium bicycle spoke and using a wire to connect to the earth pin on a power plug.

JUst as a side note though, wouldn't we be more concerned of the effects on the fishes and corals?

i think u can get seahorse to diy one for u ..

where are you seahorse ? We need your help.

talking about titanium spoke, any idea where I can find here ?

Suddenly, I have this fear that one day, my kids might itchy fingers and touch the water since my tank is an open top one. Prevention better than cure.

Its cheaper of cost....normal bicycle spokes cost $2 only

Run down on possible cost of diying

1)Standard 3 pin plug-$1.50

2)wire-$1-$2...depends on length

3)Connector to hold the bicycle spoke and connect to wire...$0.50(comes in whole row)

4)bicycle spoke....$?....no ans...hehe

So i believe a diy would cost roughly $10 the most?

Brother Seahorse, We need your wise words here.

Guys, I dun mind DIYing for fellow brothers (oops, sisters as well) if I can get the Titanium spokes.

Question: Why titanium spokes ? Can't we use high grade stainless steel ?

I strongly believe we all need this safety precaution.

Hi , sorry for the late reply as i'm sourceing for the titanium spokes . I gather

from my biking friends that the spokes are difficult to come by & they only sell

as a bunch of 16 or 32 ( not too sure the exact amount ) . I need a minimal order

of 15 to start as a bunch of of the spokes would set me back by $100++ :o .

Those who are interested pls add ur name to the list .. Will only start doing if the order is 15 or more :( Price wise would not be more than $18 . Will confirm again.
