My 2 Feet Tank

Its been a long journey in this marine aquarium and atlast i got all together..

age of tank is about 8-9 months aready.. dun remember when i start..

size of tank : 24 inches by 12 inches by 12 inches (nisso fiveplan tank)

water quantity: 15 gallons

filtration using top filter attach to my surface skimmer..

actually inside top filter have:

2 inches of eheim substrate

2 inches of ceramic rings

1 pack of chemipure

and other all filter wools

skimmer:

using cheapo air-drivem beyond skimmer but manage to use it aready.. but must know to adjust its water level..

water parameters:

NH3: ???

No2:???

No3:???

Ph:8.3

temperature:26 degree

corals inside:

1 sea fan

2 rocks of mushrooms

1 big rock of bamboo

2 clams

1 rock of button polyps

some tubeworms

there is about 8 kg of liverocks i buy not include weight of rocks which is aready bought when buying the corals..

fish inside(have not buy yet still waiting about 1-2 months before adding):

only one maroon clown small bought few months back..

cleaner crew:

one boxing shrimp

one turbo snail

one slug hidden dunno where(been with me live and death) all the way..

lighting:

one fl 15 watt daylight

one fl 15 watt blue antinic

its been 2 months plus and every corals everything doing fine..

i am taking all risk and will read up more to aquire more knowledge..

nice setup .. i like ur seafan really attract me.. btw is boxing shrimp a cleaning crew.. wat does it clean ?

boxing shrimp once put only can put one of it can't put any other shrimp cause it will kill em' and they are fierce..

anyway.. boxing shrimps what i read will use its feelers the long fellers to catch parasites etc. and eat em' they do that to fish..

in the ocean its known that they will climb up even to moray eels to clean those parasites from them..

haha just include em' as my cleaners...

There shouldnt be any aggression problem between fire shrimps and skunk shrimps.

I think so too...

u may wan to consider placing them very high near to the lights for more intensity.... if betta upgrade/add-on some more lights (PL/T5)...

anyway, how long u had ur clams?

notice any loss of vibrant colours?

had a clam once when I was using Fl....th eclam just slowly close up afte a few weeks and died one day.....

actually it is not real clam leh hahaaha sorry everybody i wanna see all your reactions..

i love keeping them and wish as i am still student and so money is tight.. i kept and starve to keep and do what i can do to have a healthy reef.. and read up more on them..

i got them from lfs in bukit timah.. its synthetic fibre glass clam.. and so far its in for 6 months plus aready.. hehe

do they look real???

well i will one day keep em' only when i upgrade my lighting and have enough knowledge..

they always advertise on this fake synthetic corals and they look surreal..

but i saw the site and its damm expensive.. but well i had 2 fake clams now..

but others are all real k..

anyway just for your info i change my fl every 2 months.. i on both antinic and daylight for the whole day except when i sleeping i only on my antinic..

i am still considering to put anemone..

i read up that if your lighting is not strong but moderate for them.. u need to feed them 3 day once..

please comment on this and help

looks like ur skimmer is skimming water..... its placed too low already.... and fyi boxing shrimp doesnt really kill other shrimps... i keep my boxing shrimp with 2 cleaner shrimp (skunk shrimp) and they live peacefully.. but i dun think boxing shrimp clean parasites from fishes as u said.. skunk shrimps are the ones....

boxing shrimp dun clean properly like cleaner shrimp. u can put other shrimp. just not other boxing shrimp. provided your tank has ample places to hide and your boxing shrimp is not starving. i have a boxing and 2 cleaners in my tank for quite some time. also had a reef lobster before i found him in the powerhead one day. Your actinics on the whole night?? how your fish sleep. they are all stressed out. corals need to rest too.. chenge every 2 months? a bit wasteful? Anemone? no . dont try . trust me

Try a yellow coral banded shrimp (the anterior portion is yellow) instead...those stay smaller and are less aggressive.

the skimmer the chepo one if put too high it will not skim the water.. i got to do that.. but the thing is the skimmate is wet loh.. i am changing skimmer soon.. but no space in tank aready.. and the top all covered with the filter box and light.. sigh.. so small.. :< and also sometimes i will off the light totally.. maybe 12 hours then i on back..

anemone?? sigh i won't be trying aready.. since even advance reefer with mh sometimes anemone dun survive in their tank..

anybody know how to tell if its female or male wanna try to buy one more i dunno what ###### i have inside my tank now..

the bridge of mushroom actually got like 4 frags i put them there actually at first botak the rock.. then after like 3 months the multiplied fast..

anyway my tank leathers dun do too well inside.. i begin to think its the chemical warfare thing etc. so i stick with mushrooms and polyps...

u can't ask much when u trying hard to be natural like the reefs of the World which had been exist for billions of years.. so u can't be God.. haha

thinking of putting a suncoral though but still have not got it and have not seen any..
