How low is consider low power consumption?

y no pple reply? 150watts consumption is it high or low for chiller?

Well, that will depend on how long is your 150W chiller works.

If your 150W chiller works 24/7. Then base on calculation

24 x 7 x 150 = 25.2Kw per day.

25.2Kw x 30 x 0.2102 = $158.92 per month

Compare a 400W chiller that works 8hrs a day

8 x 7 x 400 = 22.4Kw per day

22.4Kw x 30 x 0.2102 = $141.25 per month

Then, I would rather take the 400W chiller as in the long run, I save on the $. Unless, you are talking abt Arctica or Daeil Chiller which is low power consumption but efficient. But then initial price will be a killer.

im thinking of buying frm another forumer here his haier chiller for $80 but nw raising $$ for it...

normally chiller is on 24/7 or can i on it during the day time only??? will it spoil the chiller? how much top up gas? wats other thing i nid to take note when im maintaining the chiller?

i think the calculation for neokn is a bit off

the first eq, he mentioned wattage per day

but actually he multiplied by 7, so it should be per week instead

so the final figure should be divided by 7 to obtain the correct results

**EDIT**

24x30x150W=108kW per month

monthly bill = 108kW X 0.2102 / 1000 = $22.70

i do not have chiller, but from the reports seen on the forums, the chiller is rated based on their kick in timing vs idle timing.

so over a 24 hour period, if it kicks in 1 min every 3 mins, means 8 hours of operation per day

and using the above mentioned formulas, u get the monthly bills

Your calculation is wrong la... Don't scare ppl :lol:

Take the 400w chiller running for 8hrs a day...

400/1000(kW) x 8hrs = 3.2kWh/day

Cost per day = 3.2 x $0.2102(our tariff now) = $0.67264

So it cost only $0.67264 per day to run the 400w chiller for 8hrs a day... (idle time negligible)

Cost per month = $0.67264 x 30 = $20.1792

lol I was so shocked by the $100+/month figure, almost fainted. Bought a Teco RA240 yesterday and it is 220W!!! So should be around $30+/month la. Ok la still can afford.
