What shld I do if my Nitrate or Ammonia Level up

Hi,

What if my Nitrate or Ammonia level is up, what should I do? My two marine fish are dead, what should i do now? Do I need to change the water?

Bro can give a little bit of detail about your tank, because how to diagnose if we do not know anything. But for now pls change 40% of your water so as to reduce whatever that's going up.

Hrmz, how many LS do you have in your tank? Are you feeding alot? Overstocking your tank or excessive feeding might cause a nitrate spike. Try remove dead fishes as soon as possible so they'll decompose and foul up your water. And as Tanga mentioned, please provide some details of your tank so its easier for us....

shld i change it using distilled water, tap water, distilled water with marine salt, tap water with marine salt or NSW

Bro use DI water with marine salt or NSW whichever convenient for you. So what about your tank detail.

LS: 2 clown fish, 1 unknown black marine fish, 2 ###### prawns currently

water parameter: dun known coz hafn buy the test kit yet....any brand u recommend? cheap n good.....

LR: about 10kg

soft coral: zoo, mushroom coral...maybe cOol can help me the name of the coral...i forget again...

using NSW in my system, weipro 2011 protein skimmer...anything else?

Erm, Salifert test kits are recommended by alot of reefers. Anyway, just curious, do you have any kind of test kits currently and did you cycle your tank before adding in any LS?

i use natural seawater....no nid cycle the tank...i wanted to buy the test kit frm them but they stopped me...they said no nid to buy...unless u r expert den buy the test kit...

ZzZZzzZz...which LFS gave you this type of advice.... U'll still need to cycle when using NSW, just that it'll be faster than using salt mix. The minimum test kits you should have are the PH, KH and Nitrate test kits.

if your ph is low use ph buffer but remember not to overdose..meanwhile go cycle your tank first

bro I think u better buy those bottled bacteria to speed up the cycling period & to decrease the ammonia b4 more ls gone,and also do a water change asap
