LRs on glass walls shouldn't be much of a problem as long as they are not using the glass panel to support its full wt. For me its quite difficult to scape w/o at least abit of the rocks touching the glass. As long as the pressure is not excessive, i guess its alright. But with some proper planning and trial and error, i believe its possible to scape w/o having to use the glass to support your LRs. :)

A problem with resting LR on the glass wall is that you can not clean the glass behind it without removing the rock. If it is the back of the tank then it is not really and issue, but it can get unsightly on the sides if you have algae growing on the glass behind the LR.

Real reefs don't have glass bottoms....(...think about it)

hi all,

i've seen a reefing book. they showed various types of scaping, none of the LRs are restin on the glass tank walls.

any reefers here have their LRs resting on the glass?

should we avoid resting LRs on glass?

Heyhey! Hows your rescaping going? :) Anyway, dun worry about leaning Lrs on your walls if you have to. As long as the full weight of the rock is not against the wall, it should hold. U might want to leave a gap on the front and 2 sides of the tank to facilitate easy access for cleaning though... :)

Yea .. i juz set up my tank. managed to do a rock scape without using any of the glass panels .. had to cos my glass is 5mm only .. so safer not to rest it against the glass.

Hmm .. nice ideas .. but sometimes also must depends on life rock .. see whether they fit each other in that position or not.

For those who r yet to buy LR .. aqua marine is a very good place to get .. i got mine there .. really beautiful rocks there .. n i even get to test out my formation to see if it will hold b4 i buy them .. really good as there will not b worries on LR not being able to stand.
