Personally using 6mm for a 1.5ft nano braceless.

If ur 2 footer had bracing and using 6mm then shouldn't be a problem. But still it all depend on ur tank workmanship, placing of ur LRs, placement if the tank etc n etc.

Currently i juz set up a 5mm 2ft with side bracing ..

I know its a little thin .. so i hav taken quite an amount of consideration to get over the problem ..

first i do not stack my LR against the glass.

second .. nothing shlould b placing too much stress on the wall .. like for my red sea prizm .. i will b making a stand for it soon.

Btw AM hav a 6 or 5 mm 2ft tank on display n its been around fo quite some time. Mayb u can go down n hav a look.

thickness is only a guide....ultimately its the quality of the tank that counts, no point that you have unbreakeable glass but the seams leak...;)....i got a 2 foot juwel at 5mm think....very good, 2 years and no sign of wearing down....even used a 12000 litre pump.....but use i use a 5-plan tank for QT, i wouldn't dare try to pump in too much things....:P

Currently i got no space for sump. using a canistor filter with the return going thru my resun cl85 chiller b4 going back to the tank .. i think the flow rate should b arnd 1000L. I also hav a sieo 620 running in it.

Yea .. quality is most important .. must check out the silicon .. My tank was given to me free .. n since its a bow front, its an imported tank (got this info from one of the local tank makers). i checked the tank thru'out n it actual seems very good .. its running for 3 days alrdy .. will see how things goes as the months n years come by. It shouldnt b a problem.

Jonathen81: You should upgrade your tank. Don't get the JBJ NC, they are still supplying the old 2005 model (I got one last week). Yes, this has been bothering me for an entire week now... a disaster will definitely kick the tank (and future tanks) out of the house.

It also depends on the base. Lucky I bought the original 'S' stand. Some in the US experienced cracks becoz they place their tank on uneven surfaces. Some on uneven floors like the basement or garage.

A lot of them also blame the seamless bowfront construction (as in JBJ NC). The first sign is usually minor hairline cracks on the front corners where the glass was bent to form the bowfront. I check for hairline almost everyday :erm:

And that ain't fun... that is definitely my greatest regret of getting a JBJ NC. But I still love it alot coz it's so cute :look:
