DIY a 2Ft Glass Tank

Hi fellow reefers,

Just got a 2ft glass tank from my Uncle previously was his FW tank. intend to Diy a OF tank to bottom sump.

During the process, do give me your precious advise....

The 2FT Glass tank

My tools needed...( forgot to picture in silicone glue)

2 diamond cut drill 22mm and 16mm

Acrylic cutter

after measuring the length of acrylic(5mm thick) needed to be cut,

i had it cutted into 40cm by 14cm, 40cm by 15cm.

the rest are extras...

I presume you are doing an overflow compartment in your tank, why not use glass instead. Its much stronger than acrylic.

ya, i was think abt it... since i gt spare acrylic....so jus do it.

now the holes had being drilled.

still waiting for a second hand fiveplan 2ft tank from my frd to make the sump tank.

while waiting, i did the piping hole and overflow teeth from a 5L container.

i hate to spoil your DIY plans.... but it's for your animals/own good.

u can't use silicone on acrylic it wll surely give way in due time.

better be safe then sorry dude. it's not too late to change it to glass.

glass is cheap and good with silicone. just make sure get at least

8mm and above float glass.

almost 4get to add..... get the return overflow hole bigger. after the bulkhead and pipe going in it'll be less then 22mm

but my current tank which is the same as what i'm doin again was with me for for 2 yrs...still doing great with the acrylic inside.

What u say was true for the return hole being abit small... will be getting a bigger diamond hole from my frd's workshop(hope f.o.c) tomorrow

veri nice...aiya...if i know i also do something like for my 3ft when i just got it 2 yrs back...then no need to diy a overflow pipe to bring e main tank water into sump.....
