I'm interested in your Nano setup. I notice you have a black tube running down the side. Whats that for? Auxiliary jet? Does it help?

I was at the JBJ roadshow at Pasir Ris Pacific Marine. Their display tanks have a whole drilled from the back of the nanocube hood to allow the chiller tubes in.

But the thing is they used the nano pump to circulate the water from the cube into the chiller and then the chiller output goes directly into the jet nozzle into the tank.

This means they will not use the thermostat function of the chiller and the chiller will run 24/7? Thats not very economical.

So I'm curous how you are achieving this with your chiller?

My chiller is running that way too, water from the pump will run into the chiller 24/7. The thermostat will detect the water running through the chiller and if needed, kick start the chiller. So that's when the noise and electricity nightmare comes in. So if the water is cool, the water will just pass through without activating the chiller.

But having the stock pump doing so many things is not a good idea. The stock pump itself is already barely sufficient. Rather add another pump (doesn't have to be very powerful) for the chiller or change the stock pump to a more powerful one. Just bare the space constraint in mind as a lot of pumpheads out there are pretty big and noisy (compared to stock pump).

juscool, as describe by jervismun.. is the correct way how the chiller work.

Mine slightly different as thermostat faulty, so i set a timer to connect to chiller pump and the chiller which will kick off at the same time. I can maintain with 26-27 degree. I might just invest another chiller in the later stage, just want to be very sure i'm really interested in this hobby before i do invest more, and since i am a fam

I use the jbj stock pump to connect to my chiller and the black piping you see in the tank was the outlet from the chiller to my main tank pump the cool waster out from the chiller.

I bought another maxijet 1000 pump with a rotating dozzle to circulate my tank, pretty powerful as it do a 360 degree rotation circulation.
