don't think u need to run airpump....but store away from direct sunlight. i think it helps keep the water more 'stable' since heat can have funny effects on most things

Personally I would advise you to run an air pump and just drop the air hose in the jerry can.

You need to run air pump if you plan to keep the water for more than 6 hours. Stagnant water will NSW will have "die off" in the water, the bacterias, planktons, nutrients, minerals, trace elements.. bla bla bla.... All these contributes to the natural balance in the NSW.

The concept of NSW is different from that of Salt water mix.

I would personally use an airpump to aerate the water. As augustine has mentioned, there are live organisms in the water and they may start to die off when there's no aeration.
