My 3x2x2 tank is coming 1yr old.

My NH3, NO2 & PH levels are all optimum. Only thing is NO3.

No matter how much or frequent water change, NO3 always stay at 20-50ppm.

B4 this CNY, took my tank water & brought to have it tested.

Bloody hell, my NO3 is ZERO!!

So that may explain y my corals still looking gd.

By the way, which brand of test kit did you use that keep telling you of reading between 20~50 ppm.

Can pm me the infor if you are not so comfort to disclose them in the forum.

are u able to reveal the brands of the diff testkits?

and how long did u allow the water to be out of tank b 4 getting tested?

been busy so never check my emails.

I using Tetra.

Water out from my tank less than an hr. Meaning took water from tank, drive to LFS & tested.

Nitrate has been the issue for many pple. Causing headaches.

I was using tetra.

However, I feel that if in doubt, get yr water tested by a reputable LFS instead of spending extra $$ to blindly cure the sick.

Got my water tested at coral farm.

Hopefully by posting this I would not make the nice chap busy helping pple to test their water.

I find them "reputable" cos I saw that they got ISO documentations on water wkly check. So I asked & get to know more about their water checks.

They are using electronic type tester. But setting up the tester takes about 20-30mins, depending on the type of parameters u want to test.

Also checked my PO4, at 1ppm.

Outcome is don't use tetra nitrate kit.

So salifert is gd? What abt tropic marin test kits? Thinking of getting Ca & mg

;) Ok, got what you mean! Just to share from my personal exp. Previously, i been using a cheap testkit(cannot rem the brand names). Check my PH etc etc, been expecting good results..when theres one time, theres a change of PH which shows 8.8 - 9. I was shock and quickly took out my PH testpen and check which shown 8.2! Ponder over the 2 results, finally...bought salifert which HIGHLY use and recommended by reefers here...and viola...same values as my testpen! So took out all the testkit and throw them away!

lessons learned for begin a cheapo..:D

now, only uses salifert brands and my PH testpen....:D NO MORE cheap brands for me....:D

一分钱,一分货!!
