maybe u approach the goby at a fster spped .. like u suddenly put ur head infront of the tank .. so it is stress and hide immediately .. and when 1 of them react, it gives a warning to the rest of the gobbies .. so they will hide as well ...well .. thats what i think ah ..

Erm, they see u approach, hide for a few seconds then come out? No problem with that right? My blue tang always dart into its hiding place frequently, coming out within the minute. Shrugz, guess some fish are like that....

One tip I used is that I always put fish food right at the front of the tank when feeding, so all the fishes [including my 2 firefish] would move towards there to feed, after long, they will realise that that area is where food will "appear", and tends to stay there most of the time in the day. :D:D

Another reason will be due to other aggressive fishes if ya had any....

Gd luck.

Maybe u try putting in some other fishes that are always out in the open? Eg. clown? Cos my fire gobies are always out in the open, waiting for me to feed them. They do not hide even when I put my head very near to them.

my goby never come out.

WOW, so good, yr goby always outside the tank. this is what i wanted.

i have alot of fishes. All swim mid or top of the tank. waiting for food.

Only goby and angel fish are shy.( don't ask me angel fish is shy, she should be most fierciest)LOL

what u can do when you introduce new fire gobies is u put them into betta container near the tank for acclimitisation first....let them get used to whatever food ur feeding + help them to be not shy abit. I think it should work

Warning about gobies though, they are jumpers
