Just bought a new fish in Pasir Ris... wondering anybody know what it feed ?

It is highly advisable to at least know the name of the livestock (fish or coral) you are buying. Knowing how to provide it with the adequate conditions (i.e. feeding) should be one of your top priorities in deciding whether to buy the livestock or not.

Common name is orange spotted filefish. Good luck with the fish. From what I've read it's an obligate feeder of coral polyps.

Yes, which means if you do not have a constant supply of corals for it to eat, it will starve to death.. it is a 'reef-only' fish.

I think you can train it to take prepared food.....maybe you can try live brine shrimps 1st? I certainly eats corals though.....

Small Polyped Stony corals eater... luckily, i do not have SPS. Well... since i have already bought it, is my duty to keep it alive... i will try with brimp shrimp first... hopefully i can keep this fish alive as is a pretty cute fish to eat.

i hv kept b4 many yrs ago b4 it was known that this orange spotted filefish eats polyps. I managed to train it to eat chopped mkt prawn meat. I wud press the finely chopped up meat into grooves of a dead brain coral. The filefish will just "graze" along and suck the meat up. If all else failed, u may wanna try it.

Thanks i think i will try to feed brimp shrimp first.. Any other suggestion will be welcome. If any experience reefer that successfully kept this fish before would like to have it, i can let go at $6.

i think those brown SPS which the shop are clearing will be cheap enff, my friend always buy those for his pair of Oxymonacanthus longirostris (Orangespot Filefish) to eat...

some are passed from his other friend who cannot bring out the color.

well dun tell me u cannot afford a $5 SPS which can last them for a long time..
