got a faulty 2x55 W PL lights. the thing is that is asked around to have the lights repaired and it cost 70+ bucks to have it repaired as the ballest (there are 2)are spolit. so the question is, can i connect one ballest to both tubes instead? if yes, then what is the ratings of the ballest that i need.

I changed my 55W PL e-ballast twice. Quite easy but make sure you buy one that is the same size. Those e-ballast I buy are cheap, from the lighting shop around my area. It is a long metal box with no brand labels. I think it's around $12.00. There're only 2 wires to connect to the power, and 4 to a PL tube.

hrm...while my 2 cents again...unless u nt urgently replacin your light...wait ard for ppl to clear away their tubes, ballast n end caps...since u got a pl casing..no need buy waterproof end caps...hrm...little calculation...

e-ballast Elbiru - $16

Tube Aquaz - $12.50 for 1 $25 for 2

normal end caps - $3 a pair $6 for 2 pairs

wires??

plug?

$47 plus wires n plug...which can reuse frm e pl... so ard 50?? hrm...see your budget..

hey bro just me, recently i converted my t8 to t5 simply by buying the eballast and the electrical connectors at the end.

perhaps if the length of the housing can fit t5 tubes ah...y not change the PL to t5!

for my 4ft set, the ballast with t5 tube with 2 sets of wires for 2 tubes cost me $50/- from bioocean...definitely lesser than what it costs to repair your PL :D

oh and if you are free and don't mind paying them a visit i recommend bringing your housing down to bioocean and look for kenny, he is simply fantastic with the advice and suggestions. he was the one who suggested i modift my t8 to t5 when i was there to purchase a new set of t5's from him!

great service from them and so i recommend them to you!

Any shops to recommend for me to seek their help on modifying my 55W PL (with housing) to a T5 set? Preferbly central or western SG. :)

I'll need an e-ballast, 2 T5 tubes and end caps. Thanks!
