Rena Xp3 Cannister Filter loaded with Rowa n Pur II

New to hobbyand has always been using canister but plan to convert to sump approach...

Heard sump approach only has the benefits of hiding the equipments and ease of maintaining as compare to using a canister.

Can anyone advise is using the canister for a reef tank (without a sump) on a permanent approach, ok?

pls enlighten...
