there's some space at the back of the hood left and right of the main wire. (see dotted line)

hinge ----- wire ----- hinge

you can cut a rectangular shaped hole either left or right of the wire to insert the inlet/outlet pipe.

since your tank is having stock lighting, i'd recommend that you add another 2 fans into the hood to help with the stock fans instead of getting a chiller.

4 fans should do the job well except that you need to top up water more often for evaporation. at least it's cheap and no need to cut the hood.

see here

you probably need to remove the hood, remove light tubes and reflector to put in the 2 new fans. you may need to cut the reflector too.

here's how to diy some fans

I have added the chiller successfully. I will try to update the picture tonight for you to see, except the flow could be slower since the back of the hood are pretty small and you need to squeeze the pipe through it.

You will need to remove the two parts from the back of the hood, one on the left and on the right, is a part that can be taken out by pushing or pulling it, don't need to unscrew or anything. If you have done the piping nicely... the hood can be cover completely.

squeeze two fans in is a good idea, but how.. not an easy job and once the cover is close, where does the head goes ?? i was wondering.. and not to forget the evaporating rate.

Chiller cost more, but more stable and efficient in long run. CL280, if you lucky can get around less $100, need to get a pump to connect to the chiller, it can be place in 2nd compartment. My chiller run 15 minutes for every 2 hours and stable the temp btw 26 - 27 degrees.

Jef, i have posted some pics on my setup for chiller.. take a look

Melvin, the 2 openings are not really small.. you need to take out the parts attached to the hole.. either push or pull it out.. don't have to unscrew. With the parts remove... the holes will be much bigger. I don't know the pipe size, but consider big one.

You might want to look at an Ice Probe

But it's kind of pricey though ;)

But if you tame me, we shall need each other.

Jef, a smaller and most afforable one that support 24g is CL280. Get a Second hand one... should be around $100 - $150. I bought mine at $70, thermostat spoil. Since Singapore weather is pretty standard, i use the timer to control the chiller.

Ice Probe... ever consider before, but i decided not to get it, no-doubt is small.... you still need to fit it in the tank, you can't thrill hole on the tank.. too risky to do so, and is not going to fit on the hood. Definitely you need to cut the hood, take the hood out of somethings since it cannot be fitted. Moreover.. not cheap.

Ice Probe... for 12g, i would say is good, for 24g.. don't think that is that effective. Personally i think.

fish trap is not 100% success

since your tank is relatively small, taking everything out would be a better bet

and you could re-arrange ur rocks in the way you want too

I 2nd that...doubt fish traps really work....i took out everything about 5 times in my small tank i used to have....u'll get used to it..... Oh, if you like your current rockscape, try rem the positions of the LR before u remove them...keep us updated!

Wow! manage to catch the damsels at last. But at the cost of removing all my liverocks and corals. Now my rock arrangement is totally differant from the original position. Just cannot remember the original positiion of all rocks. btw, will post a pic of my new look tank soon.
