Background colour of your marine tank

Hi,

I'm planning to restart my tank, and now I'm thinking on the colour of the background.

I plan to keep a pair of mated maroon clowns, a big white anemone and perhaps a couple of tangs.

What colour would suit the tank most? Thanks!

i use black as over the time, algae will form. With black as a background, it acts as a cover for the urgly algae

i once read that black acts as a very good contrast to bring out the bright colours of corals...can't remember where i read it though

I assume your tank is of 3 viewable sides right? So what about the remaining side? Do you paste any background on it?

yups its true!

its like..u colour a picture and u use black to outline over the details

some people use blue as it gives the ocean depth feeling

while some people use black to give the contrast

I bought black oyama paper. Looks quite good but I didn't paste the paper properly. Argh... Can see the "water marks" when the surface is bone dry when I applied the paper. Why...!

I use black - sticker type from advertisement shop. But before placing the the sticker, I use the soap water for easy adjust. After dry, it will stick very good. But dont use the soap powder, it will left bubble. use the dish washing soap.

Hrmz, i tried blue, black n no background before...must say i prefer a black background....

Black background is good coz so many of our equipments are in black, so when you add a pumphead/wavemaker at the back, it will not be so obvious.

i find a nice background is white.

not pasted white color sticker, but the color of the wall that is behind it in a see-thru tank, like bro shoelevy's tank.

i use blue... but its useless for me, cuz coralline grew all over and act as a backdrop

IMO , black is the best for marine fishes, whereas blue is good for those keeping arowana..

yes bought black today. makes a huge difference in covering my tank's algae
