Only one gil functioning

Recommended Posts

Hi,

My queen angel suddenly developed a weird disease yesterday. One of his gills is not working and hes using the other gill to breath very hard. hes still alert and still eats like normal but i can see its bothering him as hes been going to the cleaner shrimp for cleaning more frequently. Has anyone encountered this before?

Ive checked my Parameters:

Ammonia Undetechable

Nitrite Undetechable

Nitrate 0.1

ive just changed abt 25% of water and im wondering if there is any way to treat it or am i just being paranoid?

Sometimes like that...but through my limited exprienced if it occurs often for the same fish it spells trouble as mortality is possible. Had a few fishes that died this way esp. triggers.

Its still eating and active as per normal. but the gil hasnt healed. No other signs of itch or velvet or anything no cloudy eye or anything. His body is clear and his color is still vibrant. im desperate. been soaking omega 1 pellets in garlic guard in a hope he recovers. i have changed another 25% of water. problem is i cant catch him out of the tank. its way too big and i cant move my rocks.

SIgh...... i really took alot of care in selection and acclimitizing and even water conditions and suddenly this had to happen. He is a great fish. chose him over a length of time observing his habits and when i brought him home after abt 3 hrs acclimitizing him he ate immediately. Now jus 3 weeks down the road it seems bleak.
