Need ID on this snail,

recent found this unknown creature inside my 4ft tank. its kinda huge. issit harmful.

its a cowrie...if i'm not wrong,they feed on algae

Most species will graze anything from algae to sponges and cnidarians, but the majority of them are definitely eating a large proportion of animal prey in their normal diet.

Cowries have the ability to shoot this "dart" which poison fishes and they'll slowly swallow the fish whole.

those are nt cowries..those are cone snails.

The pic is certainly a cowrie. I have kept some with limited success - they seem no more hardy nor less hardy than turbo snails, and as far as I can make out they only perform about as well as turbo snails in keeping down nuisance algae.

On the up side they can look nice. On the down side they can be big and clumsy, and apparently they can eat corals and anemonies, although mine never have.
