Yep, it certainly looks like a cowrie

But I thought they ate fish?

The pic is certainly a cowrie. I have kept some with limited success - they seem no more hardy nor less hardy than turbo snails, and as far as I can make out they only perform about as well as turbo snails in keeping down nuisance algae.

On the up side they can look nice. On the down side they can be big and clumsy, and apparently they can eat corals and anemonies, although mine never have.

Real reefs don't have glass bottoms....(...think about it)
