Breeding True Perculas

Hi Guys

I've got a pair of True Perculas for 4 years now. This pair have been regularly laying eggs on the rocks next to their anemone.

Question 1.

Do I separate the parents from the eggs and hatchlings? Will the parents eat the hatchlings?

Question 2.

What to feed the hatchlings? Any body successfully breed and Perculas here?

Please advise.

:thanks:

hi there first have to congrats you on having a mated pair of clowns.

now lets try to answer your Questions.

1) You do not seperate the eggs from the parents for 7 days and on the 7th day you should be seeing eyes of the babies already.

on the 7th day you will have to remove perferably the entire rock the eggs are on to another tank with the water the eggs was from.

After being moved, the eggs will hatch when lights are out.

2) Hatchlings will be required to be fed almost immediatly after they are free swimming and of cos the only best food will be ROTIFERS.

For 3 days(If I am not wrong) you have to feed the hatchlings rotifers and later on down to baby brine shrimp and slowly bigger and bigger food as they grow.

have fun breeding and do share with us your progress of breeding your clownfishes!

Thanks Panz!

Will take your advise. Hope will succeed.

Only problem now is don't know where to find Rotifers or how to culture them?....

Baby Brine Shrimps needs to be cultured too...i guess.....so i need to learn how to do that fast....

Can anyone advise on the above culturing methods and procedures...

Thanks

by the way you got to watch carefully the water quality of the hatch tank as due to the fact the it can only be run by a air pump now, the rate of denitrating and stuffs like these will be much slower and thus pollutes the water faster. so once in a while to got to change some water(being careful enough not to suck out any of your baby fishes!)
