QT tank very yellow

3 days ago i started a qt to treat my sohal tang. the setup includes only a polyfilter, lights and cirulation pump. water is getting very yellowish despite 20%water change daily but fish looks ok inside.

i'm concerned whether the fish can make it in such water conditions as i don't have an extra skimmer for this tank.

You should try to incorporate a skimmer for your QT. How big is your QT? If your QT isn't too big, even an airstone skimmer isn't too bad.

You may like to incorporate some carbon too as that will remove the yellow tinge in your water.

using a 2ft tank to treat. the yellow color is more than a tinge.... feel like doing a 100% water change.

i dun have an extra skimmer now. btw can a skimmer work properly at this salinity and does everyone use a skimmer in their QT?

good news, the fish is recovering and starting to feed on BS.

My QT uses a airstone and a hangon filter.

When no fishes, it is also running, so water is always establish. Water change I dun really specifically do. i.e dun mix any water for QT.

I top up water and uses the water change from my main tank to exchange the QT water.

my qt only has a air stone n sponge filter

could it be that the tank u using (acrylic) turning yellow ?

have u been adding any medication or feeding something special that turns the water yellow ?

check the water against a white background or in a white pail
