"Skin" falling off disease

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Recently my new fishes have this weird disease. They seem to contract ich, as they developed visible white-spotted coats on their entire body. Then, pieces of the coat will fall off and get hooked to my LRs and powerhead inlet. The pieces resemble tissue paper.

However, my resident maroon clown is free from this disease since day 1, while the newcomers (brown tang, then later a big maroon clown) will contract this disease within hours of entering my tank. Sigh, they did not live long after that.

I used AquaPharm Pro Series Cure Ich but to no avail. :( Is this ich in the first place?

:thanks:

But my brown tang also got it as well. :(

When I first started my fish (clowns and damsels) got ich and they did not appear like now. This time it really shocks me.

Would getting my water parameters reveal the microbes, germs, virus that are causing the disease? Just wondering aloud... :)

Just an update.

My new brown tang and sailfin tang got ich in day 1 and I applied the freshwater drip treatment twice a day for 3 days. Then... they recovered! Yay... :D

Greetins there bro. Referring to your above sentence: "the pieces resemble tissue paper", i suggest you do a read up on [MARINE VELVET]. Dun play play with this also. They do not just disappear overnight. Its as critical, if not more, as MARINE ICH.

Just my 2-cents, it doesn't hurt to be more careful. Keep on monitoring your livestock and keep us posted over the next 7 days.
