Better, more expensive equipments = better reef?

Just a thought, does having the best of whatever equipments mean that your reef is going to be better and healthier?

Or is there no direct connection in this?

oi u no need to study?? so free here :)

btw...back to the topic..

i think better equipments can help reefer to solve their problems...

E.g Expensive needlewheel not much tuning....

Good Ph controller instead of Ph monitor

thus user will not need to "monitor" the ph and do adjustment every now and then... but the last is...a WELL design tank...system...that the most important...and a very HARD WORKING ATTITUDE like CITYOFANGELS. She do WC == Water Change very freq thus keeping nitrate down @ that time she using only weipro or macro...

Her nitrate is very low around 5-10.

I am just an average FR (fish reefing) writer. If you like my FRs, please upz my points.

Still on holiday so no need to go to school

Well anyway, I was wondering why some reefers get so many "quality" equipments that it might seem as if their reef is being treated down to every molecule of every chemical that is in the water.

What I'm saying here is that does having lots of equipments make a better reef than just letting things flow naturally.

IMO, don't think having lots of equip will really substain a tank for you which means you have to do less.

many things and elements are still found in the ocean which are sometimes not found in our home aquarium and these elements could be some key benefit to keeping of certain corals or fishes. however some somehow still thinks removing every single element especially toxics such as nitrate will sure to bring them success.

IMO

Better equipment = better reef.

Expensive equipment != better reef.

For example a controller can keep

check the parameters for U 24/7.

Even if U are hardworking in maintenance,

U will most likely be able to rectify

situations only after office hours.

The reef may be in stress while waiting

for U. Not prolonged stress but even so,

I believe it will hurt in the long run yah !?

However, better equipment doesn't

always necessary mean $$$.

Sometimes U just have to get something

that works & not buy for the sake of the

brand. BUTT.... nowadays, most of the

good stuff comes with a stiff price tag

attached. <_<

More reliable equipment = easier to use/tune & less tunning required.

(Eg, having a good regulator/needle valve, no need to always tune the CO2 for CR, better needlewheel skimmer and more stable skimming so no need to always tune the skimmer and less prone to choking when you least expects it)

Usually this translates to less time spend on the reef and you can get a life elsewhere instead of spending all your time on your reef. (eg like spending more time on your studies, going out with friends etc).

However most of the time this also means more expansive equipment.

To me, expensive equipments means you can have a pro-longed period to rectify whatever problems that props up. This increases the safety margin of preventing a potential tank crash.

However, if one is diligent enough to do proper husbandry, i don't see why low-budget equipments won't work.

Imagine reefers decades ago without any advanced equipments today

Check this out, a reef aquarium that is 35 years old

Also, just for fun, an innovative tank idea

But what about oversized equipments?

(BTW that muscle car tank is darn cool)

oversized?

as in using an over-rated skimmer and such?

it would be good if you can afford those i guess, as well as the space to contain them

for me, i neither have the money to buy the expensive equipments, nor the space to put them in, so i have to be more hardworking in husbandry

If your hobby kills you might as well give up.

To me no ex equipment doesn't mean good reef.

One thing, not all expensive equipments translates to good equipments. This is a point that everyone should realise.

Perhaps the "expansive" word in this topic should be changed to "proper/reliable" instead.

To me, even with expansive equipments you still might not have better reef.

With equipments that works properly and proper husbandry then you will have good reef.

The word good is also relative. Good in one person's eye but not so good in the others.

I think in the end it stills depends on ones understanding of the different uses of equipments which is to combine with the nature and husbandry of their inhabitants of the tank and the certain needs some require to judge if the equip are worth buying and not at if it is cheap or ex.
